Skimmer

Pond Skimmers are used to "Skim" the surface of the pond.

By removing water from the top of the pond, leaves and other floating debris are collected often in a skimmer basket, and then the water is fed into further mechanical and biological filters.

While the main reason for skimmers is to remove floating debris, they also reduce the surface tension, and improve aeration.
