Nitrogen Cycle
From Koipedia
The Nitrogen Cycle is the important Biological process that takes place within a Biological-filtration filter.
The Cycle starts with Ammonia, which results from Fish waste, rotting excess fish food, leaves and other organic material as it breaks down and rotts.
As a result of the first step, NitrIte is created. Nitrite is just as harmful to Aquatic life, and it's level should be checked regularly.
If the Biological filters are working properly, the Nitrite should be converted to the final stage of the nitrogen cycle, which is Nitrate.
